Night Monkey

My web page is on the night monkey, also known

as the owl monkey. It is nocturnal, hence the name night

monkey. It is a very close relative of the spider monkey

and several other types of monkeys. A little knowns fact is

that they are most active during a full moon. They are arboreal,

which means they live in all layers of the rainforest.

Its gestation period is about 120 days and they give birth to

1 baby. That baby will travel with the rest of its family and

probably live about 20 years, unless something happens to it.

It eats fruit, leaves, flowers, sap, small animals, and insects.

The night monkey has white and black markings on its face, and

is gray and brown with yellow underparts. It has very large eyes

for night vision. It also has a non-prehensile tail. It can grow up

to16 inches, not including the tail of about 12 inches. They weigh

about 2 pounds; most males are slightly larger.
