A Goliath Bird-Eating Spider is about 4-6 inches long. Its colors are black and brown. It has hair that looks almost like fur. It eats mostly insects, but it can also eat baby birds. Even though its name favors eating birds, these spiders hardly ever eat birds. The level of the rainforest the Goliath Bird-Eating Spider lives in is the understory. This spider lives in the Amazon Rainforest.
This spider is part of the tarantula family. Most tarantulas are nocturnal, including this one. One of its close relatives is called the Bird Spider. The Goliath Bird-Eating Spider and the Bird Spider both live in South America.
